Innovation Region Styria

Innovation network of the Styrian impulse centres

The technology and impulse centre of Bärnbach, Deutschlandsberg, Fürstenfeld, Graz, Hartberg and Weiz together with the Chamber of Commerce Styria have formed the innovation region Styria. The aim of this network is to support research and development particularly for the small Styrian enterprises and therefore strengthen the innovation and competitiveness of the Styrian economy.
IR Styria GmbH was founded as motor and agency for the joint initiative. Here the competency for development, financing and implementation of research projects for enterprises is centred and made available to interested Styrian enterprises.
Various research projects of Styrian enterprises were already supported and carried out. Examples are the projects innovation region South-East, Innomill, flood protection warning system, small wind turbines, RPS, Remis, PV-Bloom or Yura. Many other projects are being prepared or submitted. Through this initiative many new innovations have been realised in Styria.

The Institute for Systemic Development supported the project partners to build partnerships, to develop a joint strategy and to establish a joint organisation.
